Kim Grossman Finkel
Kim Grossman Finkel is a writer, a visionary and the founder of a company, My Journey Books. To Rob Finkel, she is best friend and the mother of their children, Max and Sam. To others, she is a daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin or friend.
Kim was born in Beachwood, a small suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. In 1985, she graduated from Ohio State University’s School of Broadcast/Journalism. She worked for three years as a news reporter and anchor at the ABC television affiliate WJCL-TV in Savannah, Georgia. In 1988, she moved to Washington, DC to become a freelance video producer.
In 1994, Kim appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show. A two-minute video tape she had prepared on a friend’s recommendation for a segment called “Dreams Can Come True” was the only one selected from 300 submissions. After the show, Kim received a phone call from a woman in the DC area named Karen, who had watched it with her mother. Karen thought that Kim should meet her brother, Rob Finkel, a gastroenterologist from Silver Spring, Maryland. Ten months later, Kim and Rob were engaged; in September 1996, they were married. Their son Max was born in 1998, and Sam followed in 2000. The family resides in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
In 2003, Kim began to write Billie’s World, her first novel. She is proud of this achievement. Published in 2005, Billie’s World is available at www.billiesworld.com.
Kim is living her dream . As a stay-at-home mother, she has the time and freedom to express her creativity through writing and through the development of her company, My Journey Books. To unwind, Kim practices yoga, works out at the gym, sings along with the music of Eva Cassidy and Sarah McLachlan and plays freeze-dance with her boys.
